Empty Houses
Taking vacations outside of school holiday periods has led us to visit friends, one of humanity's wonders.
With heroic exceptions, we jump from one empty house to another empty house. We are very well received, but usually we stay with the house as company, not so much the people.
At night, tiredness prepares for sleep, and in the morning, the clock tightens to arrive - somewhere - on time.
In our condominium, everything is confirmed: only elderly people, very elderly, circulate between the hurried morning and the evening's fatigue.
Where are the people?
They have commitments. Tests, schedules, careers, college entrance exams. Where are the children? The adults?
They are not doing anything.
Is it increasingly forbidden to do nothing?
Time for philosophizing is almost nil, between commitments, bills, tests, exams.
Do we want not to think?
Or have we reached this point and don't quite know how to get out?
The "mulberries and plastic parks" hypothesis:
We tend to eat all the sugar we find because, in the past, it was rare to find ripe fruits on the tree. When we found them, we ate everything and it took a long time to be able to do it again. The industry learned the mechanism AND now we have "ripe mulberries" every day, every hour, on every corner. And we eat everything because our behavior pattern takes thousands of years to change. And we pay.
The same for parks. Playing used to be free. Today it costs R$ 60 for half an hour at the mall. If two or three parents let children play in the mall corridors, they get scolded: What are you doing?
So we are charging for everything that was free or at least important things like playing and finding ripe fruits.
We are undoing nature and charging to simulate it.
Of course, if we need to pay, we need to work.
So everyone ends up working all day to pay for a little bit of something that used to be free.
Empty houses.
What are the errors in the hypothesis?
This hypothesis of mine is still very rudimentary. I'm recording it to be able to improve, criticize, correct. Comment, help me correct, discard, rethink.
